Both British Pre-Raphaelite artist Edward Burne-Jones (1833-1898) and Scottish historian Thomas Carlyle (1795-1881) worked during the Victorian period. Angels were a favorite theme of Burne-Jones, although oddly little is known about the colorful Musical Angel above.
